Booking terms

These terms cover hiring Charlotte Burslem to perform. Charlotte is 16, so every booking, payment, and agreement is made with her parent and guardian, Joel Burslem, who runs and is responsible for the business ("we," "us"). When you book, your agreement is with us, not with Charlotte directly.
Quotes and pricing
Listed prices are starting points, confirmed in a written quote before you book. They are not a binding offer. Hiring Charlotte starts at $350 for weddings, $300 for parties, graduations, retirements and corporate events, and $200 for funerals. Travel beyond the Portland metro and any extra time are quoted up front. Your final price is the one stated in your written quote.
Reserving your date
A 50% deposit reserves your date (non-refundable within 14 days of the event); the balance is due on the day.
Your date is held once the deposit is received. Until then, the date remains open to other inquiries. The balance is due on the day of the event unless we agree otherwise in writing in your quote.
Cancellation and changes
If you cancel more than 14 days before the event, your deposit is refundable. Within 14 days of the event, the deposit is non-refundable, because the date has been held and turned away from other bookings. If you need to move the date, contact us as early as you can and we will try to accommodate a new date subject to availability; a confirmed deposit can usually be transferred to a rescheduled date.
If we ever have to cancel on our side (illness or a genuine emergency), we will refund your deposit in full and help you find an alternative where we can.
The performance
A standard set runs about 30 minutes; longer or multiple sets are quoted in advance. Charlotte arrives in full Highland dress and aims to arrive early to set up and coordinate with your venue or coordinator. Outdoor performances are weather-dependent for the safety of the instrument and performer; if conditions make outdoor playing unsafe, we will work with you on a covered location or timing.
Travel and venue
The starting prices cover the Portland metro. Travel beyond roughly 25 miles of Portland is quoted up front. Please let us know about parking, access, stairs, and any venue requirements when you book. Some venues require a certificate of insurance; tell us in advance and we will arrange what is needed.
Photos, video, and your privacy
We may take photos or short video of Charlotte performing for use in marketing. We will not publish images that identify your guests or use your name or event details without your consent. If you would prefer we not photograph at your event, just tell us. How we handle the information you submit is covered in our Privacy Policy.
